eerie, creepy, spooky, scary

October 5, – October 27, 2017

Guest Artist:  Bruce Maurey

"To the fragile, frayed, and fragmented scraps that stitch and string together our life forms.

To the bodies constructed of moments in time and memories.

To the dissonant voices, disparately intertwined, scribbled on our sleeves, whispering our secret stories.

To the well-kept, the hardly kept, the somebody’s, and the nobodies ...these tales are for you."

Kathryn Megginson

There is no telling why people are drawn to the bizarre and haunting art but for some reason they are. Frightening, mysterious, and weird. This October, Las Laguna Gallery is pleased to present Spectacular: Eerie, Creepy, Scary Spooky.

This exhibition features works from art that have been described as peculiar, strange, bizarre, unsettling, or chilling. Works that will leave you shocked, stunned and surprised.

Unique Abstractions: A Group Exhibition

May 4 to May 27, 2017
Guest Artist:  Stephanie Holznecht

Las Laguna Gallery is pleased to present: Unique Abstractions

Abstract art, primarily strips away the narrative, often requires active problem-solving, and in many ways ignores the real-life,

expected visuals.

With abstract painting, elements are sometimes included not as visual facsimiles of objects, but as references or signs to how we can conceptualize objects.

In recounting the world they see, this collection of artists not only dismantle many of the elements of visual processing by removing perspective and universal depictions, they also abolish some of the premises on which some of our processing is based.

Viewers often look an abstract painting for links between line segments, for recognizable contours, shapes and/or objects; but in this set of works, viewers may find that their efforts are thwarted.

Selected from hundreds of submissions this unique exhibition features stunning abstract works in a variety of different mediums.

Sketchbook West
April 6 to April 29, 2017

Guest Artist: Kymberly Bednar

Las Laguna Gallery is pleased to present our Sketchbook West Challenge.

In order to understand and appreciate the arduous process of making art, Las Laguna Gallery has invited artists to take part in the Sketchbook West Challenge.

For this exhibition, artists purchased Sketchbooks and began the process of drawing, sketching, and painting into a Sketchbook. For many this task took many weeks and months.

The end result is a unique exhibition where guests are invited to put on white cotton gloves and explore the fantastic process that is art making.

In addition to the exploration of the Sketchbook, any artist who created a larger piece of art was invited to submit to our juried event and Las Laguna Gallery has selected finished works to display in the exhibition.

The end result is an exhibition where viewers can peek into the artist process and then see a finished piece.

This exhibition features works in in Acrylic,  Assemblage, Collage, Digital Art, Drawings, Mixed Media, New Media, Oil, Painting, Pastel, and Photography (Traditional and Digital)
